Baked French Toast

Ingredients

1 Loaf of bread of your choosing
6 Eggs
2 ½ cups of half and half
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
2 Teaspoons Vanilla extract
⅛ Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
¼ Teaspoon Nutmeg

Sweet Mixture to go over bread
1 Stick Butter
1 Cup Brown sugar
1 Cup Chopped Pecans
¼ Teaspoon Nutmeg
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
⅛ Teaspoon Salt

Preparation

In a 9×13 inch baking dish, grease with butter or oil.
Whisk eggs, half and half, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
Line up your bread by overlapping it a bit and pour the egg mixture over your bread.
Cover the french toast with foil and leave in the refrigerator overnight so the mixture soaks into the bread.

In the morning, preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit and take the baking dish out of the refrigerator.
In a bowl, melt butter and then add the brown sugar, pecans, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well with a spoon or you can use your hands.
Spoon the mixture over the bread, making sure to get the sweet mixture into the creases of the bread.
Place foil back on top of the french toast. Bake 1 hour, remove foil, and bake an additional 10-20 minutes depending on how golden brown and crunch you want your french toast to be.

Serve with Maple Syrup and Fruit
