Ingredients
½ Teaspoon Salt
1 1/4 Cup warm Water
1/2 Tablespoon oil for cooking
1 Cup Areparina or Masarepa – A special pre-cooked cornflour for making Arepas
Preparation
In a medium bowl, dissolve salt in warm water and stir
Add in Masarepa and stir so that the dough does not easily stick, but does not crumble and fall apart
Take a large handful, make a ball and flatten dough in your hands
Add prepared dough in heated pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat until browned and flip. Repeat on the other side.
To get an extra crispy texture, place in the toaster oven or conventional oven at 350 degrees fahrenheit for an additional five minutes.
Cut in half to add fillings of your choice like guacamole or eggs.
